While the Oscars are intended to showcase and recognize outstanding acting, directing, and writing talents, fashionistas know that the ceremony is really all about the clothes. Some of the most amazing styles and some seriously incredible jewelry has been introduced to the world at the Oscars. While we collectively sigh with relief that Leo finally got the recognition that he has deserved for years, let’s take a look at some of the most unexpected and eye-catching get-ups that celebs wore to the event.
Jennifer Lawrence’s Dior Gown
Jennifer Lawrence’s gown got heads turning and tongues wagging. The floor length gown had a plunging neckline and a bold nude colored bodice, but what was really eye-catching was the feathers. The whole lower half of the dress was patterned black lace trimmed with feathers. The dress got her a spot among the best-dressed of the evening, and she managed to avoid tripping over it this year.
Lady Gaga’s Pantsuit Dress
Gaga’s get-up was unexpected because it was so ordinary. Known for her wacky styles and outlandish gowns, Gaga managed to stun instead of shocking this year. The plain white dress had a low neckline that was modest compared to many of her tops and a flow that was simply elegant. The split into pants in the middle was just weird enough to keep it Gaga.
Olivia Wilde’s Valentino Gown
Olivia Wilde showed her wild side with a gown that flowed at the bottom but left little to the imagination on top. The suspender-like strips showed side and under-boob in a look that was decidedly unflattering. The Roger Vivier purse looked kind of like a blow fish. Her hair and the gorgeous choker and earrings redeemed the look somewhat.
Amy Poehler’s Andrew GN Dress
Amy Poehler rocked red hair and looked amazing in her black Andrew GN dress. The dress was accented with gorgeous, colorful embroidered butterflies and accentuated her perfect figure while remaining modest. Some say it was too busy, but we say it was great.
