Come on, admit it. We know you love all things fashion and you no doubt feel fantastic when you’re dressed to the nines, but haven’t you ever woken up one morning, rolled out of bed and wished you could wear your oh-so comfy pajamas to work that day? Well then, congratulations, because the ‘sleepwear as daywear’ trend is going stronger than ever for fall of 2013 and designers are working overtime to make sure that pajama looks of all sorts are being turned into high fashion.
Marc Jacobs is widely credited for starting this trend of wearing sleepwear out of the house during the day when he boldly set models afoot down the runway wearing silk pajama sets that were as accessorized and done up as any two-piece pant outfit. That inspired quite a trend, and now many designers are not only creating pajama pants sets done in cotton, satin, silk and even plaid flannel, but some designers are even extending the craze to include nightgowns. Louis Vuitton featured dresses in his Fall 2013 show that were reminiscent of the slip dresses of the 1990s, but that looked even more like actual nightgowns, complete with lace trim around the hem and low neckline. So, the next time you don’t feel like getting dressed at all to go out, but you also want to look fabulous when you get there, slip into a matching set of silk pajamas and you’ll be the trendiest person there.
