Clothes tend to take the forefront of our overall looks in the fall and our messy summer hairstyles that were ideal for the beach are often swept back and pinned up in favor of something more simple and sophisticated to set off our fall fashions. You certainly don’t need an overly done hairstyle to take away from your beautiful print scarf, and your slouchy knit cap isn’t going to be the star of the show if it’s fighting with your hair for attention. Maybe that’s why the low pony has made a huge comeback in time for fall and if you ask us, it simply couldn’t look more preppy, collegiate and perfect for the fall season.
This take on the low ponytail got a big boost in popularity when it was worn by models in runway shows for the fall collections by designers such as Alexander Wang. Paired with those incredible pieces, the low ponies the models wore looked chic and sleek. One cool take on the low pony this season is to slick your own hair back into a tight bun at the nape of your neck and then to attach a long fake ponytail in a contrasting shade to your own hair color. This look is a nod to the Ombre highlight trend where hair is darker on top and lighter on the bottom. Now you can wear that trend without having to color your hair by wearing a false pony in a shade lighter than your dark hair.
