Perhaps the red carpet itself served as inspiration for dresses as we kick off the awards season of 2014. Or, perhaps many of the lovely actresses of Hollywood all know the same fact – that it’s really hard to look bad in a really killer shade of red. That rule was followed to the letter at the Golden Globes on Sunday night. Red was definitely the color of the night and the many gorgeous women who showed up in the color of love should have absolutely no regrets about their choices. There were all sorts of red dress styles delivered by a wide variety of designers, but they all had one thing in common, show stopping beauty.
“12 Years a Slave” actress Lupita Nyong’o has huge buzz for her remarkable performance in that film and she will also be getting plenty of buzz for her incredibly sleek and chic red Ralph Lauren caped gown that she wore to the Globes. That set the bar very high for the red gown parade and many other red dresses soon came along that did not disappoint. Taylor Swift showed up in a strapless red Carolina Herrera gown with lots of rich silk that flowed to the ground and a dramatic band of black at the top of the gown. Amy Adams looked dramatically sexy in in a flowing red Valentino gown with a dark maroon velvet top that plunged in a super deep V all the way to the waist. Actresses Emma Watson, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and others also looked positively wonderful in bright, dramatic red gowns.
